Island Communication has developed an efficient Water Level Monitoring and Early Warning system for effective flood risk management, which is used by Councils throughout the UK.

The Island Monitoring and Early Warning system is a popular choice for effective local and rural monitoring of drains and culverts where there is real flood risk through blockage. The Integrated management system gives web based graphic detail of rising water levels along with other useful data such as jpg images to give a visual indication of water levels or culvert blockage
We provide secure web access to monitoring station data and offer links to key staff Mobiles with text alerts sent on critical water levels being reached. This can extend to Community Broadcast Alert systems using Text updates.
Island's Water Level Monitoring and Early Warning system has gained recognition with an award in the "Best Environment Software Solution" category at the prestigous Scottish Software Awards 2008" This follows Island's shortlisting at the 2007 awards with recognition in the best emerging Software Solution and a special innovation recognition.
M.A.R.S Managed Appointment Reminder Service 
MARS is designed to directly address the significant problem of non attended appointments, which is so costly and a major challenge to many parts of the NHS.
Island supply M.A.R.S to the NHS and other commercial markets in the UK
MARS is a fully managed, unique, innovative, and secure appointment reminder service designed by Island in conjuntion with the NHS.
The MARS system reminds individuals a few days in advance of a forthcoming appointment. The reminder recipients have the opportunity to reply back should they be unable to attend their appointment or to pass on other relevant information.
MARS is delivered to the NHS by Island Communications and in partnership with Cable & Wireless on various framework agreements.
NEWS August 2009:
Island Communications secures a new National Framework agreement in partnership with Cable & Wireless to supply a Managed Appointment Reminder Service to the NHS England.
MARS helps NHS administrators with an opportunity to re-book any vacant appointment slots. This helps the NHS to meet their key Government Patient referral target and deliver a reduction on Patient waiting lists.
